Class Descriptions

Guided Meditation– Quiet the mind to connect to your inner peace. Meditation increases energy, builds self-awareness,
promotes heart health, strengthens the immune system, sharpens focus and concentration, and reduces stress and feelings of depression, anxiety, and anger. No experience needed. Donation only.

Latin & African Dance– Come have FUN! Enjoy yourself, let go, and get a great workout to rhythms that will make you
move! West African dance and Latin styles including Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue. No dance experience required. Casual and welcoming atmosphere so you connect to the joy of dance.

Mindfulness for Spiritual Awakening– Reconnect to your spirit as you are guided through easy, mindful movement
paying special attention to both the physical body as well as thoughts and emotions. Gentle movement and breathing exercises will deepen your awareness within the body while connecting you to your inner source of power.

Unwind & Restore- Gentle Yoga- Gentle movement and restorative postures are used to release tension on a
physical, mental, and emotional level while establishing a mindful awareness and inviting a sense of relaxation and ease.

Vinyasa Flow- This practice focuses on syncing the breath with a continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that typically includes sun salutations, standing poses, standing balance, stretches, and basic inversions that benefit the mind and body by building heat, endurance, flexibility, strength, focus, and body awareness. Beginner and Intermediate level class.

Yoga Nidra- Benefit from rest and restoration in this extremely healing practice. This class consists of breathing exercises (pranayama) and guided meditation to put you in the deepest possible state of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. Benefits include the release of muscular, emotional and mental tension.

Let it Go- Yoga Tools for Stress Relief- Stress wreaks havoc on our bodies, our mental wellbeing, and our
relationships. It is nearly impossible to avoid stress, but we can change our responses to stress as we learn to recognize triggers and practice self-care. Learn Yoga tools and techniques to help deal with stress factors in your life.

Healing Yoga- A Journey of Self-Discovery through the Chakras– In Yogic tradition, the human body has
seven energy centers called chakras. When these energy centers are healthy and open, so are we – physically, emotionally, and in our relationships. But when they are blocked through stress, injuries, illnesses or disconnection from others, we are blocked from being our best selves. Learn 1) powerful Yoga poses that will clear blockages and open your chakras and 2) meditation and breathing exercises to foster each chakra’s properties, and 3) how to journal/reflect to help with the activation of each chakra and clearing process.

Kerry BrennanKerry Brennan, Lotus Yoga Studio Manager, Yoga and Dance Instructor

Kerry Brennan teaches dance, yoga, and group exercise to adults and children of all ages. After graduating from Salisbury University, Kerry worked for Migrant Clinicians Network, a national non-profit dedicated to health justice for migrant and immigrant populations. Kerry brings nearly 10 years of teaching experience, certifications in Primary Aerobics and Total Body Strength Conditioning, and pending 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification to the Lotus Yoga Studio. Through teaching, she seeks to empower her students, building confidence and bringing joy through movement, expression, and music. Kerry aspires to guide others to find their authentic self and inner source of peace.

Cheryl Sidwell, Yoga Instructor / Yoga TherapistCheryl Sidwell, Yoga Instructor / Yoga Therapist

Cheryl has been practicing Yoga for over 20 years. She is currently 500-RYT with Yoga Alliance. She earned her 200-RYT yoga teaching certification at Marianne Wells Yoga School and completed her 300-hour certification in Advanced Yoga Therapy with Joseph LePage’s Integrative Yoga Therapy school, now part of Kripalu. She is a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) and completed her 1000 C-IAYT certification in Integrative Yoga Therapy at Kripalu.

Cheryl is trained in massage therapy and is a Level 3 Reiki Master. She worked for 2 years as a personal assistant to a client with Multiple Sclerosis and has led stretch and yoga classes for Seniors. She brings her understanding & experience working with different bodies to her practice. 

Cheryl believes firmly that Yoga is for Everyone! She can design and lead a practice for clients ranging from Senior Citizens to Athletes. Cheryl specializes in Gentle & Therapeutic Yoga & Somatic Movement Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga and Yoga for Caregivers. She has worked with a variety of clients on their journey towards health and wellness dealing with a wide range of illnesses including osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, cancer recovery, weight loss and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Bob McBrien, Tai Chi and Qigong InstructorDr. Bob McBrien, Tai Chi and Qigong Instructor

Dr. Bob McBrien has more than 20 years of training in Korean and Japanese martial arts and Tai Chi Chuan. He is a student and teacher of Tai Chi for Health and Way of Energy (Qigong) programs.

A licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland, Dr. McBrien, a Professor Emeritus, has retired from Salisbury Univeristy. He teaches classes in Tai Chi for Health, Way of Energy (Qigong), and other wellness workshops. A Master Trainer for the Tai Chi for Health Institute, he trains and certifies instructors to teach Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health programs.

Clare Spillane, LCSW-C, Yoga Instructor

Clare is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker- Certified (LCSW-C) with over 30 years of experience in facilitating personal growth through a variety of counseling modalities. She specializes in self-empowerment, self-actualization, and in identifying and achieving your life’s purpose.   She has a passion for helping individuals achieve optimum emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.  Her style embodies holistic healing with the goal of helping individuals find true happiness, peace and joy.  She is a cancer survivor of 22 years and an active practitioner of yoga.  She is a registered yoga teacher with over 500 hours of teacher training, (RYT-500).
