Class Descriptions

All Lotus: This is a vinyasa class suitable for all levels of yoga practice. Modifications are offered at the beginner and intermediate levels so this is a class anyone can take.

Beginner Yoga: An introduction to the practice of yoga, this class will move at a slower pace to emphasize proper alignment and how to use the breath throughout the practice. Come to learn in a supportive environment that teaches students to listen to their body.

Buti Yoga: Buti Yoga is a SOULFUL blend of yoga, cardio-intense movement, tribal dance, and deep abdominal toning. It models the way ENERGY moves in nature with deep spiral engagement and EMPOWERS you to go beyond “working out” and truly MOVE from within. Buti is an Indian Marathi word that means “a cure hidden beneath the surface” and this practice encourages you to look within to find your POWER and OWN it. All levels welcome, expect to sweat!

Hatha Basics: Hatha is a general category that includes most yoga styles. It is an old system that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.

Mindfulness for Spiritual Awakening: Reconnect to your spirit as you are guided through easy, mindful movement paying special attention to both the physical body as well as thoughts and emotions. Gentle movement and breathing exercises will deepen your awareness within the body while connecting you to your inner source of power. 

Therapeutic Yoga: Therapeutic yoga utilizes the tools of yoga including breath work (pranayama), gentle movement (asana), deep relaxation, and meditation to help relieve pain and illness, ease stress, depression, and insomnia, and help release trauma

Unwind & Restore- Gentle Yoga- Gentle movement and restorative postures are used to release tension on a physical, mental, and emotional level while establishing a mindful awareness and inviting a sense of relaxation and ease.

Vinyasa Groove: This practice focuses on syncing the breath with a continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that typically includes sun salutations, standing poses, standing balance, stretches, and basic inversions that benefit the mind and body by building heat, endurance, flexibility, strength, focus, and body awareness. Music changes weekly to produce the “groove.” Beginner and Intermediate level class.

Yin: A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.

Yin and Yang: the heart of duality – focuses on the flexibility of yin and the strength of yang in a fun, creative flow.

Yoga Nidra: Benefit from rest and restoration in this extremely healing practice. This class consists of breathing exercises (pranayama) and guided meditation to put you in the deepest possible state of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. Benefits include the release of muscular, emotional and mental tension.

Ayurvedic medicine evolved in India about 5000 years ago, and it is the world’s oldest healthcare system and is entirely holistic. The goal is to create harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, because this balance prevents illness, treats acute conditions, and contributes to a long and healthy life.  Ayurveda wisdom does not seek to treat the individual with a cookie cutter approach to health and wellness but rather views individual’s path to health as unique.

Sound Healing Meditation

To experience Sound Healing is to consciously connect with the inner peace and self-love that is always present within you. Sound works by slowing down your brainwaves into a relaxed meditative state so that you can relax, be restored, and receive insight/ideas/inspiration. The Sound will touch each of you in a different way – meeting you where you are – to give you what you need. During the Sound Healing you will rest in a comfortable position and listen as Julie uses singing bowls, her voice, and other instruments to facilitate this opportunity for you. The Sound Healing will last approximately 35 minutes providing plenty of time for you to rest after receiving this audible nourishment.

Please bring blankets, pillows, padding so that you’ll be comfortable laying on the floor for 45 minutes, a journal/pen, and your favorite form of hydration. Soft clothing is also recommended.

Laina Birch, 200 hr Yoga Instructor: Laina Birch started her home practice in Aug of 2016. She was attracted to yoga for the physical strength it had to offer, using just your body and the fact no gym was needed. Soon after she discovered yoga offered so much more. She fell in love with creating balance within herself, learning to release the stresses of life, and becoming more mindful in everyday tasks not just on her mat. Looking to deepen her practice, she completed Rebecca Sirman 200hr yoga teacher training in June 2018. From there, she found her calling for yin yoga. Offering to help others find peace and quiet within themselves. Laina teaches Yin on the second Saturday pf every month at 8:30-9:45 am.


Venessa Bowers, 200 RYT: Venessa is a licensed certified social worker – clinical, a certified clinical trauma professional, Yoga Instructor and a Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master. She specializes in working with children and adults who have been affected by traumatic experiences. She uses creative expression and mindfulness as treatment modalities in her clinical work in conjunction with more traditional therapeutic interventions. 

Venessa’s teaching style is to create deep thought, inner connection, and release of things no longer serving the individual. Her classes can have an therapeutic feel to them, but they are not therapy classes. Her approach to yoga is the Karmic path, which is the “yoga of action” and her style has been called “gritty and real.”  Venessa completed her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training with Rebecca Sirman Yoga at YogaVibez in Ocean City. 


Veronica Correa, 200 hr Yoga Instructor/Studio Owner: Veronica is a licensed certified social worker – clinical, Yoga Instructor, life coach, and certified hypnotherapist. Veronica earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland and she holds a license as a certified, clinical social worker from the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners.  Veronica has 18 years of counseling experience, her work focuses on providing guidance for people to break through physical and emotional pain and inspiring them to make healthy choices and to achieve their dreams. Veronica uses innovative, alternative approaches, such as clinical hypnosis, Reiki and energy therapy, as well as traditional counseling. Her approaches have proved to be a good complement to modern medicine empowering people to get well faster. Veronica completed her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training with Rebecca Sirman Yoga at YogaVibez in Ocean City. 


Berkeligh Diaz 200 hr Yoga Instructor: Berkleigh is a certified Kidding Around Yoga Instructor, 200 YT, and co-owner of Little Dreamers Wellness Center! She began my yoga journey in her mid-twenties, when I was looking for outlets to help with anxiety and stress. A friend of mine suggested she attend one of her yoga classes. With the tools she learned while attending yoga classes, she was able to cure her own anxiety without any “formal” therapy or medicine.

After realizing the positive, therapeutic, and life changing, benefits a yoga practice was having on herself, she knew she wanted to share it with my children. She had difficulty finding a children’s yoga class suitable for pre-k & elementary age children, she decided to take the leap into teaching.

In February 2016, Berkleigh became a Certified Kidding Around Yoga Teacher. Kidding Around Yoga is registered and accredited through Yoga Alliance. She uses the KAY system as a basis for all of her classes, which incorporates, cardiovascular conditioning, fun and original music, plus all of the traditional benefits of Yoga; meditation, breathing techniques, peace, and deep relaxation. As a Kidding Around Yoga Teacher, she specializes in Pre-K – 17 Years.

She continued to grow in my own practice and knew I wanted to share my love for yoga with teens & adults. She completed my 200 YTT in June 2018 under Rebeca Sirman at Yogavibez in Ocean City, MD a Yoga Alliance Accredited Yoga school. I am now teaching children & adult classes.


Julie FisherJulie Fisher is a Delaware native, who has been studying and practicing the healing arts since 1998. She discovered her innate gift for sound healing as a teenager and has developed that ability by studying with master healers Yamuna Zake and Alexandra Marquardt, practicing therapeutic bodywork and leading sound meditations. After 8 years of operating her successful private healing practice in New York City, Julie moved to Hawai’i where she fully embraced her natural ability for sound healing. Upon returning to the mainland, Julie is focused on sharing the peace of Sound with everyone who needs it.  She holds a Bachelor Degree from Pennsylvania State University, an Associates Degree from Swedish Institute, and is certified in a variety of physical and energetic healing modalities.


Laurel Harrington, 200 RYT: A true athlete, personal trainer, massage therapist, and nutritional fanatic, Laurel Harrington brings a unique set of skills to the Lotus team.  She received her Personal Training Certificate in 2011 from the World Instructor Training School.  Fascinated with the musculoskeletal system of the human body she went on to pursue her License in Massage Therapy, athletic stretch training, YogaFit certification, and surf specific training.  While in massage school she began to integrate her in depth knowledge of muscles/movement into her training sessions.  During this time her perspective of exercising shifted from solely strength training to functional/cross training.  She now combines full body movements, core strength, stability, agility, power and endurance for her clients to get the most out of their sessions.  She is currently completing a bachelor degree in Complementary and Alternative Health, graduating January 2015.  She believes true health is a balance of the mind, body, and spirit; exercises/fitness being vital in maintaining this balance.  She looks forward to meeting and working with everyone with whom she crosses paths. 


Lizzie King, 200 Yoga Instructor: Lizzie began her yoga practice for the purpose of finding the “zen” and “balance” that everyone associated with it. The practice started slow for her, and the zen and balance didn’t instantly arrive. As she began, her practice was purely physical but over the years it evolved in phases – the need for movement, mindful moments just sitting on the mat, to improve and heal specific body parts, strength, pushing herself to the limits, mind control.

Her journey led her to training with Rebecca Sirman Yoga, completing her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification in June 2018. She has a strong belief in creating a life that you love, and crashing through the beliefs that hinder that. With that being said, you can expect her to encourage you to make your practice yours in her classes – taking what you need in that moment. She’ll also encourage you to push yourself to your personal edges to grow, strengthening the body and mind.

Travis Lancaster - Yoga Instructor - The Personal Wellness CenterTravis Lancaster, 200 RYT Yoga Instructor: Being an avid athlete my entire life, Travis eventually reached a physical dead end. Knee surgeries, ankle surgeries, years of impact, and common body misalignments left me with chronic knee pain, degenerating cartilage, arthritis, scar tissue, bone fragments and limited mobility. She could no longer keep up my fitness regimen and devastatingly had to quit my life-long love affair with running, and more surgery seemed to be the only (and bleak) option.

That is when she discovered the Bikram method of hot yoga, and her life has been changing ever since. Yoga had been part of her fitness routine for more than ten years, but it wasn’t until she discovered this particular method that she developed a true and devoted practice. She have now had a dedicated yoga practice for the past five years and have slowly but surely been healing (without surgery), not just her physical body but her emotional and spiritual ones as well.

Travis earned her 200 RYT certification in hot yoga at the Bikram Yoga Rockville studio, in the spring of 2017. After a year of teaching yoga sher desire for more knowledge was burning so she traveled to Brooklyn, NY and earned her 300 RYT from International yoga teacher Jared McCann.

Holding a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Master’s degree in teaching, Travis am a former local high school art teacher and track coach. She took time away from hr career to raise her son, and now it has been exciting to return to her teaching occupation in a different arena. It has been a great fit to combine her teaching experience with my love of athletics and holistic health to help spread the vast benefits of this healing practice to our community.


Jared Rowan, 200 RYT: Jared is a local psychotherapist and has been practicing yoga for approximately 10 years. He believes in the evolution of yoga and promises to teach yoga as an experience. Jared earned his 200-hr RYT 5 years ago and has been teaching ever since. Jared is presenting pursuing advanced teaching certification (300-hr RYT) with Laughing Lotus in Manhattan, NY.

Since beginning his training, Jared’s teaching methodology has transformed, full of Lotus love. His offerings are filled with creativity, “pazazz” and freedom, rich with the “Lotus Flow.” Through the Lotus Flow, his offerings are entirely sequenced through energetics and the 7 chakras. Jared’s offerings promise to ignite your energy centers, connect you to your spirit and make you sweat. You might even catch yourself laughing in class!

Jared’s offerings are rich in laughter, self-love and acceptance. He will have you questioning if you are taking life too seriously and if you are living authentically as YOU. Cheryl Sidwell, 1000 C-IAYT, 500 RYT, E-200 RYT, YACEP: Cheryl has been practicing Yoga for over 20 years. She is currently 500-RYT with Yoga Alliance. She earned her 200-RYT yoga teaching certification at Marianne Wells Yoga School and completed her 300-hour certification in Advanced Yoga Therapy with Joseph LePage’s Integrative Yoga Therapy school, now part of Kripalu. She is a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) and completed her 1000 C-IAYT certification in Integrative Yoga Therapy at Kripalu.

Cheryl believes firmly that Yoga is for Everyone! She can design and lead a practice for clients ranging from Senior Citizens to Athletes. Cheryl specializes in Gentle & Therapeutic Yoga & Somatic Movement Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga and Yoga for Caregivers. She has worked with a variety of clients on their journey towards health and wellness dealing with a wide range of illnesses including osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, cancer recovery, weight loss and anxiety disorders.


Rebecca Sirman 500 RYT: Rebecca first began to practice yoga as a way to counteract inflexibility from years of competitive swimming and long distance running. Wanting to learn more about the discipline, she earned both her 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher training certificates with Kim Manfredi, and taught at Charm City Yoga before moving to Ocean City. She currently teaches weekly classes at YogaVibez in OC, and also at SoulFire Collective n Rehoboth. She developed the curriculum for YogaVibez 200-hour Teacher Training, and led the first group of trainees through the program in Ocean City, with 100% of the participants successfully completing their certification in June.

Rebecca’s classes weave yogic philosophy with asana, pranayama, and meditation. Her teaching and trainings honor the history and tradition of the centuries old-practice of yoga, while also recognizing that we exist in modern day America.

Rebecca has a BA in Psychology from Washington College and a MA in School Psychology from University of Delaware. She also works as a flight attendant, which allows her to take classes all over the country. Off the mat, she loves boating & biking, running and paddling.


Brian Waggoner, 200 hr Yoga Instructor: Brian began his yoga practice almost six years ago after wandering into a beach yoga class. He thought, “What’s this? Touch my toes? Are you serious?” Now, he can’t imagine not hitting the mat every day. Yoga can be life-changing. And yes, he can touch his toes now!

Brian completed my 200 hr teacher training with Rebecca Sirman in June 2018 so that he may share this practice with every body, shape, size, and age.

Matt Wood: Matt fell in love with practicing yoga in the summer of 2017. After attending his first class, he wondered how he could take his newly developed passion for yoga and incorporate his love for dance and music. After attending his first Buti Yoga class in the winter of 2017, Matt found his true calling. Buti is the artform of traditional yoga which infuses cardio, core, strength & conditioning, and tribal dance. Matt began his teaching journey with Buti Yoga, under the direction of Master Trainer, Becky Kain, receiving his Buti Yoga Certification in January of 2018. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Education with a minor in Communications from West Virginia University. Matt currently is an online graduate student through the University of Arkansas and is employed as a High School Teacher. His passion for yoga flows into the hearts of his students where he encourages self-empowerment, love and acceptance. Now, come join me on the mat to stoke that inner fire and shake your asana.


Kristen Wood, 200 RYT Kundalini Yoga InstructorKristen Wood, 200 RYT Kundalini Yoga Instructor: Kristen has been practicing Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan since 2006. In 2010, after a year of intensive study, she became certified as a 200 hour Kundalini Research Institute Level 1 Instructor. In 2013, Kristen became certified as a Kundalini Conscious Pregnancy Instructor. She has found Kundalini Yoga to be deeply transformative and healing for the mind, body and soul. It has helped provide the tools to successfully navigate and manage every aspect of her life ranging from personal to professional. Kristen hopes every student will leave the class feeling more deeply connected with themselves and with the world around them.
