A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.
Laina Birch, 200 hr Yoga Instructor: Laina Birch started her home practice in August 2016. She was attracted to yoga for the physical strength it had to offer, using just one’s body and the fact that no gym was needed. Soon after her discovery, she discovered yoga offered so much more than a physical practice. She fell in love with creating balance within herself, learning to release the stresses of life, and becoming more mindful in everyday tasks beyond her mat. Looking to deepen her practice, she completed Rebecca Sirman Yoga’s 200hr yoga teacher training in June 2018. From there, she found her calling for Yin yoga. Offering to help others find peace and quiet within themselves, Laina teaches Yin on the second Saturday of every month at 8:30-9:45 am.
