Introduction to Ayurveda

October 13, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Introduction to Ayurveda

Saturday 10/13; 11/10; 12/8
10 AM – 12 PM

Ayurvedic medicine evolved in India about 5000 years ago, and it is the world’s oldest healthcare system and is entirely holistic. The goal is to create harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, because this balance prevents illness, treats acute conditions, and contributes to a long and healthy life.  Ayurveda wisdom does not seek to treat the individual with a cookie cutter approach to health and wellness but rather views individual’s path to health as unique.

In this 4-part series, you will be introduced to the basic concepts of Ayurveda and will find out about your specific Ayurvedic constitution (prakruti) as well as your current state (vikruti) of balance. You will get to know ayurvedic self-care practices that fit your Ayurvedic type and complement your yoga practice.

Participants will use the tools of yoga: asana, pranayama, and meditation as well as Ayurvedic techniques such as self-massage (abhyanga) and dietary advice to balance their individual constitution.
